Workshops

THIS PAGE IS AN EXAMPLE OF SOME OF THE CREATIVE ART WORKSHOPS I HAVE DEVELOPED - THERE WILL BE MORE TO FOLLOW SO KEEP A LOOK OUT!!

"My Place"
A workshop I designed for young people to encourage them to think about what was important to themselves and identify family importance. The Dinner Table is a place to share and sit and can be a place where people chat and communicate and have fun as well as sharing memories. These mats were a creative way to look at how families work and how you see "your place" at the table. It was also a method to use the old mats as part of our awareness to re-use materials to help the environment.

"James May and His Fantastic Plasticine Garden"

We were lucky enough to host James May's Plasticine Garden that won one of the Chelsea Garden Show awards in the shopping centre at Burton upon Trent. This garden became a base for a number of creative workshops as I supported families to develop their skills to create plasticine flowers, fruit and vegetables as well as a special Valentines Day Treat - make your own plasticine rose that will last forever!!!!

"Flight"

This was an installation piece at The Brewhouse Arts Centre in Burton upon Trent to celebrate the sea. A life size mermaid was created to guard the sea life that we created in the art studio. She watched over the beach, shells, fishes and crabs as the seagulls flew high from the rafters.

"Glass Work "

As part of my workshop development, I worked with a number of visiting artists to deliver different styles and techniques.Linda Gumbleton and myself worked with students to create beautiful and unique pieces of glass work to bring flowers to life.

" Life in a Box"
Boxes are one of those things that are very important and never really noticed. They deserve to have colour and a character so within workshops I worked with my students to create individual boxes that represented their own designs and colour tastes unique to themselves.

Kaleidoscope

Would the world be a better place if we spoke in colour rather than language?

Kaleidoscope is a strawberry jam-packed week of vibrant Art, Drama and Dance workshops working towards a performance on the Brewhouse stage. Enter a world of fun and funky colour and expression.

7 days of the week match the 7 colours of the rainbow
Ten green bottles hanging on the wall
My love is like a red red rose
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
How now brown cow
At night I dream in colour

Leonardo da Vinci said “The first of all simple colours is white, although some would not admit that black or white are colours, but we can’t leave them out”.
